






AOII's international philanthropy supports Arthritis, Juvenile Arthritis and related diseases. Every year our chapter holds a Strike Out Arthritis bowling tournament to raise money for our philanthropy. In addition, we participate in other philanthropy events within the greek and campus community.
Interesting facts:
-Since AOII adopted arthritis as its philanthropy in 1967 we have raised over $1 million dollars for arthritis research.
-1 in every 3 adults has some form of arthritis
-70 million people in America suffer from arthritis and of those, 41 million are women
-The term "arthritis" encompasses more than 100 diseases and conditions that affect joints, the surrounding tissues and other connective tissues
-Arthritis is the nations leading cause of disability
-The AOII Foundation uses money raised by AOII chapters to award Arthritis Foundation Research Grants and American Juvenile Arthritis Grants. These grants give scientists the funds they need to develop treatments for various types of arthritis
-There is no cure.
